Kazakhstan builds a 22,000 m² Ice Palace: a signal of the global ice rink boom

The government of Kazakhstan has approved 19.9 billion tenge to build a multifunctional Ice Palace in Pavlodar, covering more than 22,000 square metres. The complex will include a 400-metre Olympic-standard speed skating track, ice hockey rinks in both Canadian and European dimensions, dedicated curling lanes for training and competition, and a gym — with opening scheduled for December 2027.

The project will serve five Olympic winter sports: speed skating, ice hockey, figure skating, short track and curling.
