The Skate Canada International 2026, the second stop of the ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix, wrapped up on November 1 at Prospera Place in Kelowna (Canada) with four champions: France’s Kevin Aymoz in men, Japan’s Mao Shimada in women, Canada’s Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud in pairs, and Great Britain’s Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson in ice dance.

The Kelowna podiums

In the men’s event, Aymoz overturned the 2.38-point gap from the short program and won with 258.43 points, ahead of Japan’s Rio Nakata (249.25) and Estonia’s Mihhail Selevko (248.66). At 29, he became the second-oldest men’s Grand Prix champion, behind only Russia’s Sergei Voronov, who won in 2017 at 30.

In the women’s event, Shimada won with 235.44 points after leading from the short program, where she set the season’s world-best mark (82.11). Estonia’s Niina Petrokina (221.07) and the USA’s Isabeau Levito (212.22) completed the podium. Shimada, who turned 18 on Friday and closed a junior career with four consecutive world titles, took her first Grand Prix gold in her senior-series debut.

In pairs, Canada’s Pereira and Michaud won with 202.17 points, ahead of the USA’s Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov (191.90) and Switzerland’s Oxana Vouillamoz and Tom Bouvart (183.12). In ice dance, Great Britain’s Fear and Gibson won with 201.17, followed by France’s Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud (192.95) and the USA’s Caroline Green and Michael Parsons (186.02).

Next stop: Cup of China

The Grand Prix continues November 6-8 with the Cup of China in Shenzhen. Next come Skate America (Everett, November 13-15), Finlandia Trophy (Helsinki, November 20-22) and NHK Trophy (Tokyo, November 27-29), before the Grand Prix Final in Chongqing on December 10-13.

The ice beneath the jumps

A Grand Prix demands competition ice that stays smooth, level and thermally stable through three days of programs. It is the same standard Napapiri has applied since 1993 to every real-ice rink it designs, manufactures, rents and sells for event organizers, municipalities and sports and leisure facilities worldwide.
