Chicago’s McCormick Tribune Ice Rink reopens November 20: free skating returns to Millennium Park

News

The McCormick Tribune Ice Rink at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago reopens on Friday, November 20, 2026, weather permitting. Admission is free, and the rink is open daily from 11:00 to 22:30 through February 2027, according to the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE).

It is one of the busiest outdoor skating rinks in the United States: since opening in December 2001, it has drawn more than 100,000 skaters each season. The ice measures 61 by 24 metres — about 1,478 m², considerably larger than the rink at New York’s Rockefeller Center.

As in every season, skate rental is available beside the rink, and free skating lessons are offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 10:00, with limited places and advance registration. The city recommends checking Millennium Park’s Facebook page for weather-related closures.
